Sustainability

You can easily reach Kannus using public transportation. Trains and buses bring you right to the heart of Kannus around the clock. In Kannus, it’s easy to get around on foot, by bike, or even by electric scooter. You don’t necessarily need your own car at all.

In Kannus, we take recycling seriously. We have two Rinki recycling points near the city center. One is located next to the S-market and the other next to the K-market. At these points, you can recycle glass packaging, cardboard packaging, small metals, plastic packaging, and textiles. Throughout Kannus, there are also smaller recycling points where you can recycle glass packaging, paper, and small metals. Housing associations also have their own recycling points. Check out your nearest recycling point here: Kierratys.info.

In Finland’s dog capital, we take picking up dog waste seriously. Dog waste bins can be found all around the city. You can also spot dog waste stickers on private trash bins – you are allowed to drop your waste bags in these bins. Let’s keep Kannus clean and pleasant for both us and our furry friends. Check out the nearest dog waste bins here: Kannus city map service (kannus.fi).

In Kannus, there are kilometers of nature and jogging trails to enjoy both in winter and summer. It is our shared responsibility to keep nature and public outdoor areas clean of litter.

Berries and mushrooms can be enjoyed under the Everyman’s Right. However, please remember to respect nature—leave the places as clean as they were when you arrived.

By supporting local services, we promote sustainability in many ways. Supporting local businesses reduces environmental impacts related to transportation, such as fuel consumption and emissions. It also supports the local economy and employment, ensuring the availability of services in the future.
