Old Cemetery
A Walk Through History
The old cemetery was founded in 1836; prior to that, the deceased were buried in the churchyard. When a new cemetery opened in Ojuanmäki in 1889, the old cemetery was closed. Today, it is largely a natural park, with only a handful of gravestones remaining.
The cemetery also includes a memorial to Russian soldiers who died at the Kannus war hospital during World War II and were laid to rest here.
